If you haven't yet read the blog post from our Music Director, Kurt Neuswanger, you should stop and take a look. "The Blessing" is being sung over nations around the world, by the churches of the nations in which they reside. God's people are scattered all over the corners of the earth; and this church movement is happening regardless of location or denomination.
Some countries are putting together beautiful masterpiece productions, while other countries in more hostile parts of the world, do their best with the resources and few people they have. This disparity is touching and beautiful. I look at the faces from across the world, and can't help but think of these believers, "each one of these are God's children; these are the precious ones of God."
"For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing."
-2 Corinthians 2:15
I recall when God told Abraham that the world would be blessed through His descendants. As the adopted children of God, we are a blessing to the nations we live in. Now they may not know that, and many certainly would not agree. After all, 2 Corinthians 2 goes on to say that we are the stench of death to those who are perishing. But, nonetheless, the servants of God proclaiming His truth, and shining their lights of love into a community will undoubtedly be of benefit to that community and to the world. This month, I would love to ask you to find practical ways to support God's children, perhaps the shut-in, the persecuted, or the needy. How about the unborn?
One way that you can shine your light this month, is by taking a stand for life.
Let's face it, our country has seen a genocide the likes of which human history has never seen before. And while many of us rightly disagree with this horrible reality called abortion, if you are anything like me, it has gone on under my watch, under my nose; and in many cases I am happier with a blind eye. But if this year has taught us anything, it is that our nation can too be judged, and yes, even our community. It's time to change.
Children are a blessing from the Lord. Both the child of Christ, and the unborn in the womb. Let's take a stand for both.
